Disorganized Mind: Coaching Your ADHD Brain – Ratey

Book review

From the first ADHD coach

Former husband and wife super-team of Nancy Ratey (the original ADHD Coach) and John Ratey (co-author of Delivered from Distraction) give advice in “Coaching Your ADHD Brain to Take Control of Your Time, Tasks, and Talents”.

Nancy Ratey has ADHD and Dyslexia and is arguably the first ever adult ADHD Coach. Her wisdom and experience show clearly in this book, illuminated with client histories who overcame their ADHD challenges. Ratey offers a six step strategy that gives the reader a way to analyze what is working for them and what is not and provides forms and questionnaires to help the reader get through the steps. She also emphasises the need for commitment and patience for the process of growth while covering every aspect of ADHD from time mismanagement, procrastination, distractibility, impulsivity to transitions.

In this book, Ratey helps people with ADHD take control of time, tasks, and talents at work and at home without losing sight of spiritual, physical and mental wellbeing. Coaching can help someone with ADHD bring balance into their otherwise chaotic life and learn strategies to structure life and goals aligned with their ADHD and Nancy distills many of her helpful coaching techniques into this excellent book.
